1984: Hate week

A week of posts about 1984. Tonight I went to see Paper Zoo’s production of George Orwell’s 1984 at Sale Waterside (alas for one night only). I missed this when it was staged at the National Media Museum in Bradford. It features John Hurt’s image being projected onto a screen as Big Brother and is a powerful production with lots of sly allusions to modern society. I was particularly keen to this group’s production as they’d very kindly donated a script and a poster signed by Hurt to my 1984 collection. So thanks for the donation and for an uncomfortable evening. If you can get to Wakefield this Wednesday you could see them do 1984 and Animal Farm on the same day.
