Yesterday’s criticism of Manchester’s piss poor public statuary, must have stung. The symbol of the city is the bee, signifying ‘industry’. Bee in Latin is ‘pis. Some of the gents urinals in the Town Hall helpfully have a bee symbol at just the right height to avoid splash-backs.
