Not seen it yet, but I can’t help thinking this particular critic was a bit harsh on Mr Banksy’s new film, though I’m sure Banksy would approve of his method. Now of course in my youth writing on walls would get you a caning rather than a gallery showing. A new head teacher arrived at my alma mater, determined to make his mark with what nowadays would be called a zero tolerance approach to graffiti. He embarked on a mission to hunt down one prolific tagger who used the pseudonym ‘Trex’. “Who is the boy nicknamed Trex?” he demanded. Eventually one of the teachers grew tired of our sniggering and told the head ‘Trex’ was in fact the name of a young person’s popular beat combo ‘T-Rex’. Oh to be young in the 1970s.
