Thought we’d have an American theme for today’s post with it being Thanksgiving and all. Here are news photos from different angles of the same event, the 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan. The very dapper Secret Service agent toting the Uzi machine gun is called Robert Wanko – which is obviously hilarious to those of us with a prurient mind. A decade before Governor Reagan had outlined his plans to deal with protesting students, saying “If there has to be a bloodbath, then let’s get it over with”. Talking of which, earlier this year a blood sample taken after the assassination attempt was auctioned – bidding reached $30,000 before it was withdrawn after criticism from the USA. I was very taken with the request on the sample bag to test for the level of lead.
