The camera always lies

I took this photo earlier this year whilst on holiday in Cornwall. It was taken on a boat trip to ‘seal island’ and was published a couple of weeks ago in Amateur Photographer and shows… well what does it show? Probably not what you think was going on. Which shows… well not much actually, other than photographs are often ambiguous. It was one of those occasions when I knew ‘something’ was going to happen, but I wasn’t quite sure what, so I kept my camera ready, took some photos of the build-up and then something did happen, but not what I thought, and… well you get the idea – or maybe not.
