In art, a diptych is an artwork consisting of two pieces or panels, that together create a singular art piece. Juxtaposing two images creates all sorts of meanings. Here, ‘straight’ pairs of photos are presented, which in the main were not meant to be viewed as diptychs, but when shown together they seem full of loaded meanings waiting to be imagined about America – a country full of contradictions and contrast.
