“Working class communities, moved out, priced out and kept out.”
Manchester's skyline has been changed by the architectural equivilant of a dirty big exclamation mark rising up from the street – Buildings such as Urbis, The Beetham Tower and the skyscrapers of 'Manc-hattan' were meant by the developers to become landmarks. This graphic photographic survey show these and others from the 1960s onwards – But, rather than uncritically celebrating such additions to the city, the captions ask why we got them and who do they benefit.
